Gaurav recently joined Modera as Chief Investment Officer, bringing an impressive background in investment leadership and strategy.
Prior to joining Modera, he served as CIO at Pallas Capital. He has extensive experience in the industry as a Senior Managing Director, Chief Portfolio Strategist, and Global Head of Equity Client Portfolio at State Street Global Advisors.
Gaurav has deep experience across quantitative and fundamental investment strategies, as well as private investments. He brings a global, multi-asset perspective to portfolio allocation and investment solutions. He believes in a consistent asset allocation framework, thoughtful segmentation by client type, and disciplined governance through a strong investment committee process.
How do you do good in your community?
I’m passionate about engaging and mentoring young people early in their careers. I sit on the board of Mehrotra Institute at Boston University, Cornell University’s Business school and the board of a local charity that works on entrepreneurship for rising high school students.
Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Delhi, India. I moved to a small town in Scotland for college before attending graduate school in Boston in 1993. Since then, I have been a proud Bostonian and am an avid fan of our local teams, especially the Celtics. I currently live in Brookline, a diverse community close to downtown where I enjoy the small restaurants, bars, coffee shops and artsy cinema hall.
What’s a destination in the world that you aspire to visit?
I love exploring new countries, especially ones close to the beach and would love to visit Bora Bora and Tahiti. A close second choice would be driving across the United States while intersecting all the national parks, though I suppose that’s an adventure for retirement!
How do you caffeinate?
Black coffee in the winters and espresso over ice in the summers. I also must say I enjoy Blank Street iced lattes when my teenage daughters convince me to have them.
