Gary Gonzalez brings almost 30 years of service with Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue, where he retired as a Battalion Chief. During his tenure, he gained experience in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) and the unique financial needs of public safety professionals.
As a strategic client advisor, Gary helps firefighters make informed, confident decisions about retirement and wealth management. In his role, Gary focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships within the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue community. He provides ongoing education, retirement planning resources, and personalized guidance to help clients navigate the transition from active service to retirement. He also organizes monthly gatherings to help retired firefighters stay connected with their community.
Gary is the author of ‘A Public Safety Officers Guide to the Florida Retirement System,’ a guidebook now in its ninth edition. He regularly distributes this resource and writes continuing education articles for union newsletters to support firefighters planning for retirement.
Gary grew up in Miami and currently lives in Davie, Florida. He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, playing music, traveling, RV camping, and staying active through workouts and pickleball. He also leads meditation groups and collaborates with researchers to bring mindfulness and resiliency training to firefighters.
