As a Wealth Manager and Principal at Modera, Jon provides comprehensive financial planning and investment management services to individuals and families. Jon believes in developing and investing in personal relationships such that he can better understand each individual’s unique needs, goals and concerns. From there, Jon works closely with clients to help them make sound financial decisions, as well as with their other professionals to help implement recommended planning solutions.
Before joining Modera, Jon spent 18 years as a Financial Advisor with RS Crum, Inc., a fee-only registered investment advisory firm based in Newport Beach, California. While with RS Crum, Jon also served as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer and became a Principal in 2011. Earlier in his career, Jon spent 13 years advising business owners and operated his own boutique mergers and acquisitions firm. As a result, he has a unique understanding of the emotional and complex decisions that impact business owners and families as they contemplate major transitional events.
Jon earned a B.S.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Arizona and an MBA with an emphasis on Finance from Pepperdine University.
A lifelong Southern California resident, Jon and his wife live in Seal Beach, California and spend as much time as they can with their three young adult children, family, friends, and Max, their beloved golden retriever. Outside of work, Jon enjoys spending time traveling, golfing, attending sporting events, concerts and comedy shows, and starting his mornings before everyone else with a hot cup of black coffee.
What do you value most in your client relationships?
I value the opportunity to play a trusted role in my clients’ lives and the meaningful, long-term relationships that can grow from that trust.
How do you feel you help to create impact for clients?
Clients will often tell me they spent years worrying about their finances before we started working together. It is especially gratifying to hear from those same clients that they are no longer worried, now that they feel more informed, confident, and prepared for their finanical future.
What do you feel is a strength that you have?
Listening is one of my greatest strengths, and I believe taking the time to truly understand my clients is the foundation of every successful relationship.
When you retire you’re going to…?
I plan to travel as much as I can with my family and hopefully coach youth sports again someday, perhaps for my grandchildren!
