His passion for financial planning was sparked at just 10 years old, when a rate increase affected the customers along his newspaper route. That early experience underscored the importance of thoughtful financial planning and ignited a lifelong commitment to helping others prepare for the future.
With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Dan brings deep insight and a client-first approach to his work. Prior to joining Modera in 2023, Dan worked at several advisory firms before founding his own firm in 2011. Today, he continues to help clients achieve their goals through personalized guidance designed to deliver meaningful, lasting results.
Dan received a B.S. in business management from Providence College and an MBA in corporate finance from Fordham University.
Dan makes the most of his move from New Jersey to Florida, by staying active with a weekly routine of golfing, swimming, spinning, and walking. He enjoys traveling to different countries and attending concerts and sporting events. He also spends as much time as possible with his three grown daughters and three grandchildren.
What sparked your interest in financial planning? What fuels you every day in your work?
I started delivering newspapers around my neighborhood when I was 10 years old. One day, the newspaper announced that they would be increasing the cost of the weekly delivery from 90 cents to 1 dollar. Several of my older customers would give me a dollar to include a 10-cent tip. I can still recall the reaction from many elderly neighbors of the cost increase. Living on a fixed income and having to navigate inflation was difficult for many of my neighbors. Some cancelled their newspapers while others were embarrassed that they could not provide a 10-cent tip. I realized that planning was essential, and I could help others by planning for their future and their retirement.
How do you feel you help to create impact for clients?
I strive to support my clients by offering thoughtful guidance and clear insights to help them reach their goals. By maintaining consistent communication, I ensure they remain focused and aligned with their long-term plans.
When you retire you’re going to…?
Travel, travel, travel. I have enjoyed our European river cruises that we have taken, but my aspirational trip is a river cruise in the Amazon jungle – hopefully, as soon as I retire
Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?
I grew up in Bellmore, NY which is on the south shore of Long Island near Jones Beach. After college I lived in Manhattan, before moving to northern New Jersey. Recently, we have moved to the Sarasota region of Florida.
