Bridge to Success

Michael Gibney and Samer Eshmawy from Modera’s Westwood, NJ office volunteered their time and talent with the New Jersey Community Development’s (NJCDC) Bridge to Success Program in Paterson, NJ in August last year.

For many students, making the transition from middle school to high school is particularly challenging. To help these students, NJCDC hosts a four-week summer program called Bridge to Success where students attend workshops and learn a variety of skills such as time management, college prep and how to handle peer pressure.

As one of the workshops, students were tasked with presenting business ideas and products to bring to market.  Modera’s Michael and Samer acted as “Shark Tank” hosts as five groups from the program presented their business ideas.  Ultimately, the winner was a group that presented a “Flamin’ Hot Skull” hot sauce, where the spiciness of the hot sauce could be “dialed up” from “Mild to Wild.”  Modera sponsored lunch for the students after the presentations.

Modera wishes the best of luck to these students and this fantastic program. We look forward to having these future entrepreneurs as clients one day!
