What do you value most in your client relationships?
I value my clients’ trust. It isn’t always easy to talk about finances, and I do not take it for granted.
How do you feel you help to create impact for clients?
I approach each client differently and focus on their goals. The decision that results in the highest dollar amount isn’t always the best one, and my job is to ensure that my clients feel comfortable with their final decisions. For example, making the decision to retire is one that is incredibly emotional. You’re giving up a social circle and your routine, plus your paycheck. Our working lives are spent maximizing savings, and now we need to change that mentality to be comfortable spending. Sometimes, it’s easier to push out the retirement date than it is to address these questions. But that can result in potentially giving up time you could have been spending doing the things you enjoy. These are all factors that I take into consideration in client conversations, to help push past the pure financial and help clients make confident, well-informed decisions.
