As an advisory manager, Connor is responsible for leading a team of financial planning associates and senior planning associates to ensure high quality, timely, and efficient deliverables of financial planning in support of lead advisors. He oversees the coordination, quality, and execution for the planning associate team, as well as trains and develops planning associates to reach career milestones. Working closely with leadership, Connor helps drive talent development, goal achievement, and career progression initiatives while fostering a collaborative team culture.
Prior to joining Modera, Connor served as an Air Rescue Swimmer in the U.S. Navy, where he spent nine years conducting helicopter flight operations and supporting mission-critical rescue and tactical activities. He later managed residential remodeling projects for Hatch Homes before moving into financial services with Tristate Financial Advisors, where he advised clients on financial planning and wealth management strategies and led a team of advisors as District Manager.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf on the weekends and taking his dogs to the park.
What sparked your interest in financial planning? What fuels you every day in your work?
For the average person, there is a lack of understanding when it comes to personal finance. Financial planning brings a higher level of understanding and clarity to a family’s financial circumstances. Having a detailed plan in place allows people and their families to have more control over their future and make sure they’re getting the most bang for their buck; rather than a “set and forget” approach that often comes with large opportunity costs. I love being a part of that process of change to help people understand what the best path forward for them and their families is.
What do you feel is a strength that you have?
One of my biggest strengths is my attention to detail. In this industry, what may seem like an insignificant detail can often lead to large and unintended consequences down the line; if not accounted for. My passion is helping other advisors find and uncover those details to help reduce the risk of oversight in the planning process.
When you retire you’re going to…?
Play golf and spend as much time on the water as I can!
Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. I’ve lived in many places since then; and currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s by far my favorite place I’ve ever lived!
