Brett helps individuals and families navigate the road to retirement and beyond, providing them with insight and the framework to help achieve their goals. Finances are not just about what you earn, but what you are able to keep. Brett leverages his knowledge as a CPA to identify tax management opportunities that may maximize his clients’ assets. His holistic approach to planning aims to address every facet of financial well-being, allowing clients to focus on realizing their needs while doing the things they love.

Brett has over 10 years of financial planning and wealth management experience. Prior to joining Modera in 2017, he held roles in the accounting and tax industry.

Brett received a B.A. in business administration and accounting from Utah State University. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Brett lives in Salt Lake City, UT with his family. He loves the outdoors and traveling to destinations around the world, where he enjoys learning about different places and cultures. Brett fosters this same appreciation within his children and spends his free time watching and helping them grow through sports and academic pursuits.

What do you value most in your client relationships?

I value getting to help my clients though stressful or hard situations to help them toward achieving peace of mind and the ability to focus on the things that are truly important to them.

What sparked your interest in financial planning? What fuels you every day in your work?

From an early age, I’ve had a keen interest in finances and budgeting. While getting my Masters degree in accounting, I was introduced to some financial advisory classes and immediately decided this is what i wanted to do for the rest of my life.

How do you feel you help to create impact for clients?

By helping my clients navigate complex issues through educating them so that they can make informed decisions to help them meet their goals.

What do you feel is a strength that you have?

One of my strengths is being able to help educate clients on finances and taxes so that they can understand why we make the decisions we do for their benefit.

What do you enjoy most about working at Modera?

My favorite part about working for Modera is the relationships I have been able to form with my co-workers and clients. Seeing their success and growth is fun to watch and brings me great happiness.

How do you do good in your community?

I try to be a good neighbor and periodically volunteer when opportunities arise to give back. Historically, I have worked with some youth groups and the Boy Scout program.

When you retire you’re going to…?

Travel the world and spend time with family!

Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?

I grew up in northern Utah and currently live in North Salt Lake City, just less than an hour south of where I grew up.
