When you’re not working you’re…?
Spending time with family and friends. I love traveling, golfing, hiking, cooking, and trying new restaurants.
How do you do good in your community?
Giving back to the community has long been a significant part of my life. For 15 years I worked in the nonprofit sector, providing donor-focused services to individuals, families, and corporations that enhanced their philanthropic interests and charitable goals. In that time, I helped grow the organization’s assets from $1.2 million to over $25 million and distributed over $23 million in grants to the community. In 2005, I established the Zoe Quinn Francis Fund in memory of my daughter Zoe, who lost her battle with cancer. Since then, I have raised over $500,000 to benefit children with cancer by providing financial support to improve and enrich the quality of life for them and their families.
Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?
I grew up in Severn, Maryland, and then moved a whopping 8 miles to Pasadena, Maryland, where I currently reside. Living in the same county your entire life has pros and cons, but it’s comforting to know that you have friends no matter where you are.
What’s a destination in the world that you aspire to visit?
My son, Rocco is in the United States Navy. Therefore, I aspire to visit wherever my son and daughter-in-law are stationed. I miss them so much, but I’m lucky that I’ll get to see the world because of them! The first destination on my list is to visit Yokosuka, Japan.
