Jacob specializes in helping young executives navigate the complexities of managing and preserving the wealth they have worked so hard to acquire. As a former engineer, he finds joy in the problem-solving process, although the problems he tackles today are people-centered rather than mechanical. The work is more rewarding to him now, as he strives to make a real difference in his clients’ lives, guiding them through important decisions and helping to ensure their financial future is secure.
Prior to joining Modera in 2018, Jacob spent 4 years as a manufacturing engineer at an automotive supplier, driving process improvements. Prior to that experience, he spent 7 years as a manufacturing engineer leading capital improvement projects at Yamaha Motor Company.
Jacob earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional. He is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and has served as treasurer for the South Region Board.
When not working, Jacob likes working on cars, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with his family. Jacob makes his home in Atlanta, GA.
What do you value most in your client relationships?
I value the genuine connection we have with each other. Many of the conversations we have are personal, about our families and interests. As a financial advisor, I enjoy being able to help impact my clients’ lives in a meaningful way.
What sparked your interest in financial planning? What fuels you every day in your work?
I was previously an engineer, and I spent a good amount of time reflecting on making the career transition. My initial interest in financial planning was in simply trying to learn more about managing my personal finances. When I started looking for a career path outside of engineering, I spoke with several financial planners I knew through family and friends, and I was drawn to the concept of being able to help improve people’s lives.
How do you feel you help to create impact for clients?
I am there along the way to help them establish and accomplish goals they wouldn’t have been able to on their own and often help them gain the confidence that their goals are within reach.
What do you enjoy most about working at Modera?
I enjoy the small size of the company. I can talk and consult with anyone in the firm at anytime which is not easy to do in a larger sized company. I also like having so many advisors to learn from and share knowledge with. I believe it is extremely beneficial to have access to so many resources.
