As a Senior Planning Associate, Blake plays a key role in strengthening client relationships and supporting the delivery of comprehensive financial planning. As an integral part of your advisory team, he conducts in-depth client interviews to gather financial data and clarify planning goals, contributing to strategies across investment, tax, retirement, estate planning, executive compensation, risk management, and education funding.
In addition to helping clients implement their financial plans, Blake participates actively in client meetings, providing documentation and follow-up support to ensure continuity and clarity. He reviews investment allocation reports, collaborates with the client service team to monitor service activities, and researches planning strategies and potential tax law changes to enhance client outcomes.
Beyond client-facing responsibilities, Blake contributes to internal initiatives such as onboarding new team members and supporting broader wealth management projects. With a collaborative mindset and strong attention to detail, he helps ensure Modera’s planning process remains thorough, personalized, and forward-thinking.
When you’re not working you’re…?
I love the outdoors and sports. I play basketball after work almost every day and I am in an adult soccer league. I also enjoy golf, hiking, fishing, etc.
What’s the best career advice you ever got?
The best advice I’ve ever received is to stay humble. When you come across something you don’t know how to do by yourself, don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you try to do things on your own, it can often lead to stress and mistakes.
Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?
I grew up on a farm outside Roanoke, Virginia. I had never lived outside southwest Virginia until I moved to the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia metro) area, which I am still adjusting to. There are many great things about big cities, but I often miss my hometown.
What’s a destination in the world that you aspire to visit?
I love to travel. I have been to multiple countries in the Caribbean, but I have always wanted to visit South America and the South Pacific.
